I really did enjoy going off to camp when I was a kid. Going from the big city to the woods was a great adventure for a kid from the westside of Chicago.

I had a rather restless night, last night. I guess I am at my own "Crossroads of Indecision." As I tossed and turned wondering about all the things that blindside you at 3:20 am, I tried to find some personal solace in the fact that anything is possible, ANYTHING! Living here in Chicago, one of the greatest cities in America, anything really is possible.

It's a rainy day, today. Wet & humid, what a great combination. I am setting here trying to sell on mf my cameras online. I'm gonna part with my vintage Voigtlander Bessa I. It is a Folding Rangefinder from the 1950's, and still in great condition (yeah, I'm still really into film cameras). I will say that living in the digital age has made it so easy for a guy to conduct business of all kinds right from the comfort of his home, while still in his pajamas. Ah, life is good.
Well, I better get moving. Like I said, it's raining today here in Chicago, so I'm no big hurray to leave my apartment. Come to think of it, I really don't have to. I've got some Microwave Popcorn, Cookies, and a box of Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop Tarts, so I guess I'm good. (Man, I gotta get some real food, soon.)

I have been tossing and turning most of the night, it has been this way for me most of the past week. Since leaving the position that I had for the past three years with my agency I have been trying to balance what these new challenges I now face mean. Hey, it's never easy deciding that you now want to be the one in control of your personal destiny. One of the things that keeps waking me at 4:45am most mornings is how much time will I have to see if I will fly or fall at this? I guess I should know from living life that the answer to that question is never crystal clear.I do know that I'm going to give this my best possible effort. If we don't try and help ourselves to better lives, than who will? I just hope that time really is on my side, here.

As I was out and about, today, I snapped this photo of one of the metal sculptures that dot the corner of 47th Street at Martin Luther King Drive, here in Chicago. This is in the heart of the community known as Bronzeville, once a mecca for the musicians and artist of Black Chicago. This community has been experiencing the steady pace of gentrification for the past few years. The goal is to give the community a sort of classic rebirth, the kind that happens when the low-income, disenfranchised people that have lived here for years are replaced, or displaced, by the growing influx of the upper middle-class that come in with $300,000.00 condos, and Starbucks. Hey, I am never one to put down, obstruct, or hold back positive change in a community. I truly feel that most of the time Change is a good thing. Anyway, when I was roaming around, pondering my own personal changes that I am currently sorting through, this sculpture caught my eye, so I pulled out my trusty camera and did what I do. I aways remember the words of the late, great, Sam Cooke, "A Change is gonna come...Lord, I know a change is gonna come." I'm always hoping that it's for the better.
]]>オリンパスのフォトラリーに参加してきた。下の写真はそのラリーで撮影したものだ。生まれて初めてデジイチに触れた。カメラの無料貸し出しがあったのだ。作品はやはり選外ではあったが、「縁」を感じてE520と言う機種を買ってしまったのだ。まだ買ったカメラでは撮影していないので、むずむずしている。ああ、何処かに撮影にいきたい！
